Berkeley’s independent news site pays attention to modern architecture
Back in the days when the AIACC published arcCA (Architecture California) as a print quarterly, the chief perk of being on the editorial board (second only to the conversations) was meeting in wonderful buildings. The best were private homes, and our entrée to many of them was through Pierluigi Serraino, AIA, author of NorCalMod, the definitive guide to modern architecture in northern California. Pierluigi wasn’t invited to join the board just so that we could get into those houses—again, it was for the conversation—but it was a great treat to be able to meet in such gems as architect Donald Olsen’s home in Berkeley.
