How Thermobimetal is Shaping Eco-Responsive Architecture

Falling Walls Foundation

The Falling Walls Foundation, “inspired by the fall of the Berlin Wall . . . and the dawn of a new era of freedom, promotes breakthrough thinking and builds a growing network of leaders from science, business, and the public sector to tackle great challenges and make groundbreaking ideas accessible to society.”

USC Professor Doris Sung, AIA, principal of Do|Su Studio Architecture, won an Art and Science award at the 2021 Falling Walls Science Summit for her research in thermobimetals to create passively responsive architecture—building elements that change shape when heated by the sun.
