Tijuana-San Diego is the 2024 World Design Capital, the first binational designation of this biennial event. Past WDC’s have been Torino, the first, in 2008; Seoul; Helskinki; Cape Town; Taipei; Mexico City; and Lille Metropole. The current WDC is Valencia.
The Tijuana-San Diego WDC initiative is spearheaded by the Design Forward Alliance, UC San Diego Design Lab, the Burnham Center for Community Advancement, with full support of the governments of Tijuana, San Diego, and surrounding cities.
