USModernist, a nonprofit dedicated to the preservation and documentation of modern houses, has documented over 20,000 houses across the U.S., representing the work of over 120 architects. Its magazine archive contains more than 8,000 issues of every major design magazine in the U.S., including arcCA (Architecture California), the print predecessor to arcCA DIGEST.

In March 2023, Martin C. Pedersen, editor of Common|Edge, interviewed George Smart, founder and executive director of USModernist, learning about “his two websites, the podcast, the house tours his organization conducts, and why documentation is such a power preservation tool.”
